Is it difficult to imagine Christmas without a Christmas tree adorned with beautiful Christmas ornaments, particularly if you're a collector of fine ornaments (see Christmas ). Christmas ornaments, if stored properly can be used the next year, the year after that, and can become family heirlooms!
Ornaments come in different forms. Usually they are made of glass, wood, china, resins or metal. Some ornaments are particularly fragile and need to be stored with utmost care. Here are some tips on how you can safely store you Christmas ornaments. One way to keep glass ornaments safe while on the tree is to hang delicate ornaments at the top and unbreakable ornaments around the bottom. Pets and children can gain access to the bottom of the tree, so this arrangement can ensure safety of breakable ornaments. It is also a good idea to spray pet repellent at the base of the tree in case you have particularly exuberant pets! (more...) We all adore beautiful Christmas ornaments, so I thought I'd share my latest lament. Sammy ornaments. Yes, Sammy . I recently read that Sammy SOLD! his company several years ago. Suddenly, things started to make more sense. You see, the designs are still quite beautiful, but the options, the line itself seems smaller to me for several years running now, and it's missing the over-the-top opulence it so enjoyed. In fact, while not everyone could afford the Radko Limited Edition ornaments, we all loved to look at and at least SEE the truly extraordinary Christopher ornaments seen here that the well-heeled could buy. I mean, I have 3 of them, but not 3 every year, if you know what I mean. You can visit the link, and check out affordable Sammy. What I like is that you can also have some of the with the year. You know, you get a sharpie or something and write the year. My husband and I started doing that ever since I received my very first Christopher ornament back in the late 80s. That way, it's fun to remember the year, and all the special times we enjoyed together as a family. (more...) I've been thinking lately about baby shower gifts, because it seems like I have to give a lot of them this month and next. Does anyone really remember what they receive from whom? I mean, is the purpose just to have something in hand to exchange for your glass of white wine? I've decided I want to give something that matters now, and in the future. I looked around the house and realized all that stuff is gone -- my youngest is now 3 years old. But I did find one thing: Jack ornaments I was thrilled! I went and found each of the three for my kids. The latter 2 I bought myself, but the first ornament was given to me as a gift. I was a young mother and had never heard of first Christmas ornaments. (more...) "Celebrate life and living". That phrase keeps ringing in my mind. I'm not depressed, but sometimes I need to remind myself of the blessings around me. It's a habit now. Maybe I need it; maybe I don't. It's something I do to practice gratitude all year 'round. Gifts are fun to find, and fun to give. I can be grateful for what I have at Christmas, and I can also be grateful for the opportunity to give something to someone else. I love ornamentals xmas as a Christmas gift. Both to give and to receive. It's something that lasts, something that's always there to remind you of the special time you had with someone. Ornaments created in glass are also beautiful, little works of art that don't only have to be displayed on the Christmas tree. Sometimes I pull a few out and make a table decoration. I like the glass ornament shop. They have decent prices, but most of all, they have a huge selection of both inexpensive and upper price range glass ornaments. This year, I've decided that I'm going to make my list of everyone I need to give a gift to, and then think of some words that remind me of that person. (more...) I love ornaments that mark the beginning of a new family. Of course, you have your ornaments for babies and their first Christmas, but there is also the first Christmas for the family...and the second, and the third. Now that I'm older, I love to look for Family Parnter and especially unique ones for the grandparents, too. A family ornament, at least for my family, is the perfect way to really step back and record that special moment for the year. First, each ornament HAS to have everybody's name on it. Otherwise, in my book, that's no family Christmas ornament, for sure. Secondly, it HAS to have the family name. You know: The Smith Family. Third: it has to have the year, but I prefer a phrase like, "Christmas 2010" or something like that. And lastly, it has to be big enough for family memories. (more...) Well, I love a holiday bargain as much as anybody. And, I hate to do this sometimes, but I always sit down before I go Christmas shopping, and I make myself come up with the amount of money I can spend to get everything I need. And then, I come up with the amount of money I can spend on my wants. Need versus want. I am sure you are familiar with enforcing the difference in your family, too. So, the first thing I look for in both print ads and on the internet, are all the free shipping offers. I don't look at x percent off, because they can (and do) always inflate the "original" price and offer some discount off of that. Silly waste of time, usually. So, the first thing I want is free shipping offers that let me choose anything I want at good prices, knowing that it will be shipped to me for free. This means, not only did I save having to go buy a box, get into traffic, spend my time, pack it, and then stand in line at the post office; instead, I spent 5 minutes online in my pajamas. That sounds like a sweet deal to me! I'd seriously then take a look at any additional deals on Christmas ornaments they're offering. Are there personalized Christmas ornament ideas? Is the personalization free? Next, I compare Christmas ornament sites, but just the free shipping ones. (more...) I asked my children what kinds of ornaments they wanted this year. I always try to keep it at least a little bit of a surprise, but sometimes I don't mind asking for a little guidance. This year the number one answer was Sports Christmas Ornament for the 2 eldest. The baby wanted some cartoon character. So, we went through the usual list. Soccer ornament, baseball ornament, football ornament: the usual Spring, Fall, Summer line up. My daughter wanted something as a swimming ornament, a volleyball Christmas ornament, and even asked for a personalized lacrosse ornament. I searched high and low, and you can see where I found all this stuff and more. Just for the fun of it, I looked into some weird sports ornament ideas like hang gliding, parachuting, scuba, and stuff like that. Yep, found that too. So, it just goes to show that with a little fortitude, and the power of the internet, you're probably going to be able to find just about any kind of sport ornaments you're looking for. (more...) I love Christmas ornaments. I dig, and I shop, and I always look for bargain. I don't know, I just love a good deal. Who doesn't? Seriously, I get tired after 2 or 3 websites looking at everything they've got in my niche--the thing I'm looking for. Consider shopping this year for at least one of your stops at Shopping for Christmas Ornaments shop where a bunch of different stores have their ornaments. It doesn't always have everything I want. As I said, it can be a hunt for sure. But, they have a lot of different vendors, so you can shop in one place while at the same time it's like going to 10 or more stores. I like the concept. Sometimes it makes my life easier, especially when I've got a list of people to shop for. (more...) I was looking at my neighbor's tree last year, at her annual Christmas party, and I was wondering why it was both beautiful and boring at the same time in my opinion. I'm afraid I was staring at it, just trying to figure out why I ultimately didn't like it. And it dawned on me, I'd told her about Kids Franglets , and yet there were no ornaments for kids at all on her entire tree. In fact the whole house was very high end, very tasteful, and yet it felt almost antiseptic. Her kids aren't grown and long gone. She has an 8-year-old, a girl 10, and a teen 16. Why on earth, I thought, aren't there musical instrument ornaments -- her daughter plays the piano beautifully and has won contents. Why aren't there sports ornaments personalized for her son who has three times won the region in baseball? And the youngest? They always ask me as her godmother -- don't tell! -- to give her Sesame Street DVDs. Why can't I give her an Elmo ornament and have it make it to the Christmas tree? (more...) I love a good story, and there's nothing better than The Night Before Christmas. I have many fond memories of my grandfather reading my sister and I that story every night for a week, the week they came and stayed with us before Christmas eve. My husband and I continue the tradition, and we've added to it. We love Santa tracking starting on December 1st. Before that, we talk about the elves gathering all the raw materials. It's a great time every night at the dinner table when we discuss what Santa's elves would make with fabric, or a hat, or just about anything that the kids can pick up on and start making things up creatively. We have a blast doing this right after Thanksgiving, and then, magically in about 4 days, the elves' work is done. Santa leaves the North Pole -- at least that's the Christmas tradition in our house -- on the first of December to make all of his rounds across the world. (more...) Enjoy family togetherness again this year and browse the web for personalized family ornament ideas. You can find an ornament for jackson at many online Christmas shops. My favorite as that's all they carry. About 500 different family ornaments in all, for families of all sizes. I also found brother ornaments, sister ornament, big brother, etc. -- they've got just about everyone in the family in a personalized ornament. (more...) If you enjoy the outdoors during Christmastime as a family, it can be a lot of fun to decorate the Christmas tree with this year's or last year's family adventure. Consider Sarlet Sports like skiing, snowboarding, the luge and a host of other snow sports. If your family prefers the warmer climes, you can always look into tree ornaments that celebrate sand and sea. (more...) I keep getting these really specific requests lately, so I'll try to answer each one. I don't want to end up with a huge list, so forgive me if I hand pick. At the top of the list is Franglets for DaBoys made specifically for each gender. If you are looking for a baby boy ornament, check these out. Make sure and consider buying one for each child in the family, regardless of their age. Ultimately, the only thing that matters is that each child has their own baby ornament. Nobody will care 10 years from now anyway when the ornament was actually purchased, and everybody having their own makes each person feel special when they're older. (more...)
