I asked my children what kinds of ornaments they wanted this year. I always try to keep it at least a little bit of a surprise, but sometimes I don't mind asking for a little guidance.
This year the number one answer was Sports Christmas Ornament for the 2 eldest. The baby wanted some cartoon character. So, we went through the usual list. Soccer ornament, baseball ornament, football ornament: the usual Spring, Fall, Summer line up. My daughter wanted something as a swimming ornament, a volleyball Christmas ornament, and even asked for a personalized lacrosse ornament. I searched high and low, and you can see where I found all this stuff and more.
Just for the fun of it, I looked into some weird sports ornament ideas like hang gliding, parachuting, scuba, and stuff like that. Yep, found that too. So, it just goes to show that with a little fortitude, and the power of the internet, you're probably going to be able to find just about any kind of sport ornaments you're looking for.
And this brings me to the issue of personalization. Personalized or not. Both of my eldest kids gave me sort of lukewarm answers. It was like, "yeah". "Just yeah?", I thought. Mmm. Seems as though they could take it or leave it. I like personalized sports ornaments if for nothing more than my own ego. I want to see my kids' names. This got me to wondering how much of all this is really about me.
I don't know. I thought about Ayn Rand and realized that I really don't need to analyze my good motivations too closely. If it's good and everyone's happy, then I'm fine. I will leave the worrying up to someone else. For now, grab a sport ornament for your kids. They'll love them, and if you decide to get personalized sports ornaments because that makes you happy to, then I say: do it!
